‘It's not me then?' she says. A little bit of my heart breaks, and I struggle to swallow down the lump in my throat. 'No Jane, it's not you. You were right.'

Why won’t he ever let you use his phone? Why is he always going on about that girl from work?

Is he cheating on you?

There’s one way to find out – ask him. Then (when he lies) call Rebecca Jane, founder and owner of the Lady Detective Agency.

The Agency is one of the UK’s most successful female private detective services. It exists for one purpose: to find the truth.

Whether that means trailing a transsexual prostitute through the streets of London, following suspected cheats on stag parties, tracking down someone’s beloved pet ferret or uncovering famous people’s affairs, Rebecca and her elite team will help. Whatever it takes.

Their extraordinary dedication stems from first-hand experience of deception. Here Rebecca not only reveals her clients’ fascinating stories, but her own rollercoaster journey too – from early success to crushing failure, scandal, abuse and affairs, and ultimately to finding true love.

At times heartbreaking, hilarious and eye-opening, this vibrantly-written compilation of stories introduces us to a sparkling and witty new voice in Rebecca and her crack team of female detectives who are always ready to solve any case, no matter how big or small.

For the first time, the Agency is opening its doors and revealing its secrets.

Guilty consciences beware.

What can I say...?

WOW!

I bypassed this book when I first saw it as I didn't realise it was a true story, yes I know, it's in large gold letters. When I realised I rushed to get it, even though normally I never touch any biographical books, they just aren't my thing.

But this one was different!

I was certain I had heard of Rebecca Jane before, positive I had seen her on ITV1's This Morning show discussing The Lady Detective Agency, where women (or anyone who needs help!) can turn to them without being exploited, and receive an understanding, sympathetic ear.

The idea of 'trapping' alleged errant husbands and spying on your significant other seemed to cause a divide with many thinking that it's immoral and setting yourself up for a huge fall. Personally, I can say I have never (and I know my husband of 16 years, will never) be in this situation, but if I were living with these doubts and worries I wouldn't hesitate to use The Lady Detective Agency!

The insights into Rebecca's work featured in the book moving quickly from touching, and baffling, to hilarious! When I first started the book I did wonder what on earth I was reading as it starts with a case of a woman who seems to all intents and purposes unbelievably bonkers, but as I quickly turned from page to page I was hooked!

I don't want to ruin any of the cases Rebecca discusses, but it's not often in a 'real life' book that you watch the case of a runaway transvestite prostitute, a ferret stealing Brazilian wife, a seemingly unfaithful diamond dealer and a whole manner of men who give the male species a bad name! The tricks to catch these suspects that the bunch of glamorous women have up their glitzy sleeves are certainly as eye opening as the tale of their friendship and support for eachother is heart-warming.

The Ladies also are torn in several areas of their work and we see Rebecca really struggling with her conscience  especially with matters such as 'Honeytrapping' where an attractive woman is set up to seduce a suspected love cheat, but they soon find out there are ways and means of operating with this, and ways of never operating!

The book is extremely well written, with humour and empathy shining through, and is also a tale of friendship, love and sheer survival. I wanted to laugh out loud and also cry along with the author as I was just pleading for her life to work out right in the end.

The chapters are manageable chunks and it is very easy to get to know the characters, and a real eye opener for anyone who thinks the life of a PI is a glamorous one! Although it is not all being stuck in muddy fields and shinning over fences in wellies! The girls do love their heels!

I would recommend this to anyone who would like a really interesting, honest read! It's fantastic from start to finish and I wish Rebecca all the very best with her future business!

I for one can't wait to read the next instalment and this would make an absolutely gripping mini-series!

A well deserved...
